With much regret the Directors of Redbridge Green Fair Association (RGFA) have taken the decision to cancel the 2018 Green Fair which was scheduled to take place in Melbourne Field, Valentines Park on Saturday 23 June this year. The decision has been made reluctantly and for a combination of financial and organisational reasons.
We would love you to read our full statement outlining the reasons for our decision. This is largely to do with the lack of of funding and appreciation by the Council for the green fair, and the unequal treatment and funding we receive in contrast with Vision, and other, community events. It is also to do with the exorbitant fee charged by Vision to hire Melbourne Field which we cannot afford. It is also, hands up, due to some organisational issues which we have largely sorted out.
We are really hoping that we can organise a mini green fair on the same day in Barkingside Town Square (the Ken Aston Square) if the Council will let our £3000 arts grant (to pay for Melbourne Field!!!), be transferred to this smaller (but very exciting!) event. We will update here when we find out.
