Redbridge Timebank is to run fab half hour workshops at Green Fair to showcase sharing economy
Sophia Hubs is delighted to share community knowledge and expertise…
The Redbridge Green Fair is the only green fair left in London and is organised totally by volunteers. It wants to promote the Timebank and is offering a free stall in return for a full programme of 30 minute workshops offered by our Timebank members.
We aim to strengthen and develop tighter bonds within the community through helping each other with exchanging skills that we acquired through life. We use the “hour” as our currency. We register our profile on the website at www.sophiahubs.com/sevenkingstimebank/ and then start trading with other members.
The Timebank allows us to rediscover old traditions of helping one another… and to rediscover people around us in an often very disconnected current world. It is also a great and practical way to help start-up business and businesses in general to connect with more people
(potential customers!), gain experience and testimonials, get help for free.
Make sure to visit our stall and try out a Timebank taster. We hope to recruit 50+ new members and more volunteers (who get ‘paid’) to help us expand

- 12.15 – Jitendra Makvana (start-up business in an ambient lighting product) will demonstrate how to connect a solar panel to a 12 volt rechargeable battery. Such a solar panel can be placed inside the house, somewhere which receives sunlight. From this power source we can light a low LED light, which can be used for example as a night light. It produces light similar to moonlight.
- 1.00 – Leonore Lord (Enterprise Desk business advisor, community psychologist, social enterprise owner) will talk about starting up a business with no money.
- 1.45 – Mo Obadina (Ilford’s award winning business coach with a passion for supporting women in business) will introduce her business map as a practical business tool.
- 2.30 – Ruth Musgrave (Ilford resident with years of experience in mediation and community bridge building) will give a taster workshop on Non Violent Communication that is a way of listening and talking that focuses on needs rather than blame.
- 3.15 – Nnenna Anyanwu, (local experienced accountant and business advisor) on how to make your businesses more environmentally and socially friendly by simply adopting little practises and policies. An interactive discussion on what the circular economy looks like.
- 4.00 – Olive Hamilton Andrews (Redbridge start up in virtual business management) on some time management tips for your business or your life to make things go more smoothly for positive rather than negative energy.
- 4.45 – Kathy Mason of new social enterprise Plantastic (in nearby Dagenham) on prescription gardening, questions, answers, conversation about growing plants for health
- 5.30 – 2nd workshop by Jitendra Makvana (start-up business in an ambient lighting product) will demonstrate how to connect a solar panel to a 12 volt rechargeable battery –see more info in first workshop above
